Rohde & Schwarz presents dipole antenna for immunity measurements

(Product News, 20 Mar 2007 )

With the R&S HK5000, Rohde & Schwarz presents a dipole antenna for immunity measurements. To support these tests in the VHF range, the antenna is optimized for broadband efficiency. During these tests, DUTs such as automobiles or mobile phones are exposed to high field strength to measure whether the field strength impairs their functionality or, even worse, damages the equipment. The antenna's compact and innovative design allows it to be set up at a distance of one meter from the DUT. This complies with the internationally accepted test standards.

The R&S HK5000 features low SWR values, thus low internal reflection. Therefore, the energy fed into the antenna is converted to radiated power with low loss. The R&S HK5000 makes it possible to generate high field strengths of up to 200 V/m and even higher. This can be done by using generators with lower power than would be necessary with conventional antennas.

The bandwidth of the R&S HK5000 can be used for transmission and reception applications in the frequency range from 20 MHz to 100 MHz. The actual radiators are in the shape of a two-sheet hyperboloid and are mounted on a rotary shaft on a trolley. The antenna's polarization position is turned via remote control by means of a rotor that is also mounted on the trolley. The R&S HK5000 broadband antenna is now available from Rohde & Schwarz.
