Alpha uses Sequans chips to manufacture WiMAX consumer devices

Sequans Communications, supplier and developer of fixed and mobile WiMAX semiconductor solutions, has signed an agreement with Alpha Networks, whereby Alpha will use Sequans chips to build WiMAX fixed and portable consumer products based on the 802.16e-2005 standard. The products to be manufactured use Sequans’ mobile WiMAX chips, including the SQN1130, Sequans.

Jeff Lin, director at Alpha Networks, said, "Sequans' WiMAX semiconductor solutions are clearly the best in the industry. Their chips deliver the highest throughput and the lowest power consumption, thereby giving us the best foundation possible for building WiMAX devices. Sequans is the most experienced WiMAX chipmaker and has been setting the standard for performance since the early days of WiMAX."

Michael Class, VP sales, Sequans, stated, "Alpha Networks has demonstrated not only skill, but speed in delivering products based on our chip, such as the PCMCIA card that we have on display today. Alpha will be delivering several WiMAX devices over the coming months and we are looking forward to working closely with Alpha to develop high performance WiMAX devices, integrating functionalities such as WIFI and VOIP."
