Samsung and TI to deliver next generation high definition audio & video networking entertainment products

(Product News, 02 Apr 2007 )

Texas Instruments Incorporated has announced that Samsung is implementing TI’s 1394 technology for High-Definition Audio-Video Network Alliance (HANA) home entertainment networking products such as set-top-boxes (STB), digital televisions, TV nodes and digital video recorders (DVRs).

TI’s 1394b portfolio includes the TSB41BA3 and TSB81BA3 PHY devices. The company’s chipsets enable high-speed audio, video and data connections (up to 400 Mbps) across longer cable lengths (up to 100 meters), using a variety of cable media (STP, Cat5, POF, GOF) for home networking applications. In addition, content protection is enabled to ensure a trusted home network.

TI and Samsung are both board members of HANA, a cross-industry organization comprising content providers, service providers, CE manufacturers, software and silicon providers dedicated to offering standards-based, end-to-end solutions for the ultimate HD experience (www.HanaAlliance.org). Sharing a vision of the future, TI, Samsung and other HANA member companies help ensure device interoperability.
