China Mobile Phone Export Volume Reached 385 Million Units in 2006

China's mobile phone output reached 455 million units, accounting for 43.75 percent of the worldwide total of 1.04 billion units, in 2006.
With the influx of overseas cell-phone giants setting up their bases in the region, China has become a global mobile phone manufacturing center
According to the China Customs and Ministry of Commerce, in 2006, China mobile phone export volume reached 385 million units, up 69.1 percent year-on-year; and valued at $31.214 billion, up 52.6 percent from a year earlier.
The data from China Customs, Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Information Industry shows that during the perion from 2001-2006, China's domestic mobile phone manufactures have witnessed a rapid growth in mobile phone export, from 510,000 units in 2002 to 32.61 million units in 2006.
Home-made mobile phones were mainly exported to the developing countries in Southeast Asia and South Asia such as India and Vietnam in 2006. But home-made mobile phones are exported to these countries in terms of cooperative brands, which indicate that the home-made mobile phone brands do not have strong influences in the overseas markets.
