MVTS Technologies Enters Partnership with Babcock & Brown Electronics Management

(Interviews, 16 Jul 2007 )

MVTS Technologies has entered into a partnership with Babcock & Brown Electronics Management (BBEM), whereby BBEM has acquired an unspecified ownership percentage of the company. Ron Maassen, CEO of MVTS, said: "This substantial investment by BBEM will provide us with the resources to take on new product lines and will further expand our Automated Testing Equipment (ATE) customer base. It will also enable us to further expand our relationship with ATE Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). The combination of MVTS and BBEM is uniquely positioned to be the only entity with a full complement of both front-end and back-end financial and technical services in the semiconductor equipment resale industry. BBEM brings to MVTS the ability to offer financial solutions and the ability to purchase large portfolios of equipment in order to respond quickly to capacity requirements of semiconductor-industry customers."

Mike Herman, a Senior Executive with BBEM, stated: "The partnership marks BBEM's expansion into the ATE market and allows BBEM to offer a complete solution in both the supply and remarketing of used semiconductor equipment, as well as technology financing solutions for most fab and test equipment. The combined suite of products ensures a comprehensive source of pre-owned equipment from world class certified refurbishment centers, and financial products which support the combined customer base as it shifts from Capital Expenditure to Operational Expenditure in focusing on shorter term technology and capacity requirements. The partnership further advances BBEM's goal to help customers source and remarket semiconductor equipment in a cost effective way, and at all operational phases of semiconductor fabs and test facilities."
