Unisem appoints Bruno Guilmart as group CEO and Ang Chye Hock as group COO

Unisem (M) Berhad has announced the appointment of Bruno Guilmart as executive director and group chief executive officer and the re-designation of Ang Chye Hock as executive director and group chief operating officer.

As part of his new role, Guilmart has been appointed to the board of the company, effective immediately. As the group CEO, Guilmart assumes responsibility for the group’s overall operations, sales and marketing, and business development. Ang has been on the board of Unisem since November 2002, holding the position of executive director. In his new role as group COO, Ang will assume responsibility for the group’s operations in Malaysia, the UK, China, Indonesia and the United States.

Prior to his new assignment, Guilmart was the president and CEO of Advanced Interconnect Technologies Limited (AIT). Preceding his role at AIT, Guilmart held the position of senior vice president for worldwide sales and marketing at Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing Limited, Singapore, one of the world’s leading silicon foundries. Prior to Chartered, Guilmart served as vice president of professional services at Cadence Design Systems, Inc., Hong Kong, where he managed operations in the Asia Pacific region. In addition, he was managing director for the Asia Pacific region of Temic Semiconductors GmbH, Hong Kong, which is a member of the Daimler Benz Group. Guilmart has also held marketing and business development positions with Hewlett Packard in Europe, the United States and Asia. He holds a master’s degree in business and electronics management and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Paris South, Institute of Technology in France.

Ang was the COO of Unisem from 2001 to 2005 and held the role of president from 2001 to 2007. He began his career with Motorola Malaysia, where he worked his way up to general manager of Motorola Semiconductor Sdn Bhd, Seremban. Ang has more than 25 years of experience in the electronics industry, including roles as general manager of Magnetic Data Technologies Singapore, managing director of Wizard Multimedia (a software retail company), managing director of Applied Magnetics Singapore Pte Ltd, and managing director of Motorola Electronics Pte Ltd. Ang holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electronics (honors) from the University of Salford in England.
