Intermec commits support for Microsoft's new Device and Security Management Server on Industrial Strength Windows Mobile Devices

(Business News, 07 Nov 2007 )

Intermec’s CN3 and CN3e rugged mobile computers will support Microsoft's System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008, announced today, giving enterprise customers a comprehensive solution to enhance security and device management on their Windows Mobile devices.

Microsoft's Mobile Device Manager, a comprehensive mobile management and access solution for Windows Mobile devices, is an extension of the existing Microsoft IT infrastructure companies use today supporting technologies such as Active Directory and Group policy for increased security management. Intermec is the first rugged device manufacturer with plans to support Mobile Device Manager. IT departments can easily distribute software and manage device inventory while providing users with access to business applications and other data on the corporate network, helping increase productivity on both audience fronts.

Designed to meet the needs of workers performing mission-critical tasks in transportation, logistics and field service, the CN3 and CN3e mobile computers deliver a powerful combination of communications technologies in a compact, rugged package. The thin, rugged form factor fits the needs of the mobile worker and the integrated GPS with internal antenna enables efficient deployment of resources and improves asset visibility. The CN3 and CN3e also come with WiFi, Bluetooth, and choice of WAN Radio (3G CDMA/EV-DO or GSM/EDGE).

Intermec is both a Microsoft Direct OEM and Microsoft Gold Certified
Partner and has worked closely with Microsoft to ensure the CN3 and
CN3e will work well with Mobile Device Manager. Updates enabling the
CN3 and CN3e to work with System Center Mobile Device Manager will be available in the first half of 2008.
