Qualcomm promotes Jing Wang to Executive Vice President

(Business News, 22 Jan 2008 )

Qualcomm Incorporated has promoted Jing Wang to executive vice president. In his new role, Wang will take responsibility for driving Qualcomm’s continued growth in the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa regions. He will also serve as a member of Qualcomm’s executive committee.

In his prior role as senior vice president and chairman of Qualcomm Asia Pacific, Wang played an important role in driving CDMA’s adoption and growth in China and South East Asia, in formulating and implementing Qualcomm’s business strategies throughout the Asia Pacific region and in building strong relationships with Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturers.

The move is part of a wider effort by Qualcomm to add more global representation to its executive leadership team and unify its services-related businesses to better reflect the markets in which they operate. As part of that effort, Qualcomm also announced that:

· The company created a chief marketing officer position (CMO) filled by Jeff Jacobs, who will oversee global marketing, external communications and standards-related efforts.
· It is evolving the structure of its global business development organization by forming three overarching regional areas that will each be led by a member of Qualcomm’s executive committee: Americas and India, Asia Pacific and Middle East/Africa and Europe.
· Qualcomm’s services-related business will be unified under executive vice president Len Lauer and his organization will include Qualcomm Internet Services/MediaFLO Technologies, Qualcomm Enterprise Services, Qualcomm Government Technologies, MediaFLO USA, Firethorn and Qualcomm MEMS Technology.
