Accurate fault detection in optical submarine cables

The MW90010A measuring instrument locates faults in optical submarine cables used for international communications. It supports fault location with 10-m resolution and collects 1.2 million data points for a 12,000-km optical submarine cable (12,000 km/10 m), which is more than 100 times better measurement accuracy than previous instruments. Its 66% reduction in the MW90010A footprint compared to previous instruments supports easy onsite portability, while touch-panel operation simplifies measurement even for inexperienced users.
