NXP Semiconductors has launched a feature-packed, ultra-small, single-core, dual-mode Nexperia Cellular Multimedia Baseband PNX6712 for HSPA and EDGE. Based on 65nm process technology, it offers manufacturers advanced on-chip multimedia features, such as H.264 decoding on QVGA at 30 frames per second (fps). The PNX6712 forms the engine of NXP’s Nexperia Cellular System Solution 6712 – a powerful HSDPA/HSUPA/EDGE platform, enabling sub-$30 electronic bill-of-materials (eBoM).
NXP’s Nexperia Cellular Multimedia Baseband PNX6712 offers top multimedia features including up to 750 hours of standby, 45 hours of MP3 and 8 hours of video playback, and a multitude of connectivity options for anytime, anywhere content transfer. The solution provides manufacturers a platform for high-performance multimedia phones, with a highly flexible and efficient architecture built around an ARM926-EJ processor, unique algorithms for voice and video, hardware accelerated low-power video, graphics and camera features, and built-in security and digital rights management (DRM).
