Micrel powers up newest family of single supply LDOs with input voltages as low as 1.65V

(Product News, 01 Jul 2008 )

Micrel has rolled out the MIC6910x/15x/30x, a new family of very low voltage linear regulators. The devices are part of a new high-current, single supply LDO family that operates from an input voltage as low as 1.65V. Aimed at the industrial, medical, communications, computing and consumer markets, the solutions are targeted at servers/routers, computing peripherals, LCD/Plasma TV and industrial/medical point-of-load applications. The ICs are currently available in volume quantities, with pricing starting at $1.13 for 1K quantities.

The MIC6910x/15x/30x series features single supply operation, from 5.5V down to as low as 1.65V, with +/- 1 percent initial output accuracy. The devices are extremely stable with ceramic capacitors and are available in currents ranging up to 3A for the MIC69301/2, 1.5A for the MIC69151/3 and 1A for the MIC69101/3. These ICs give designers the flexibility of different current options while offering a cost savings by reducing the required number of external components. These linear regulators feature excellent line and load regulation and logic controlled shutdown and protection features such as thermal shutdown and current limit. In addition to enhanced power handling capability/ reliability, the devices come in thermally-enhanced packages e-Pad SO-8, MLF® and S-PAK.
