All RECOM products certified as DecaBDE free

(Business News, 09 Jul 2008 )

European Union, through the Directive 2002/95/EC Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS), prohibits placing on the EU market new Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) containing more than the permitted levels of six (6) hazardous substances: lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium and both polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

One variety of PBDE, Decabromodiphenyl ether (DecaBDE), a flame retardant used in a wide variety of polymeric applications (plastics, rubbers, elastomers, coatings, adhesives and sealants) had been exempted from the RoHS Directive. This will change as of July 1st, 2008.

All new Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) containing more than 0.1% by weight DecaBDE at the homogeneous material level cannot be placed on the EU market after June 30, 2008. All products that are sold in the EU will have to be certified or recertified as RoHS compliant based on this new requirement.

All RECOM products have been certified as being free of DecaBDE. Declarations of Conformity for any RECOM product are available at: http://www.recom-international.com/DC-DC-Converter-RoHS.html
