30-Watt Converter in a 2" x 1" Ultra-Miniature Shielded Package

(Product News, 18 Jul 2008 )

The new space saving 30-watt converter out of the RECOM Power Laboratory combines ultra-miniature dimensions with ultra-wide input voltage ranges - an optimized combination for Wireless Network, Telecom/Datacom, Industrial Control Systems, Measurement, Semiconductor Equipment and many other applications.

The new RECOM-Standard for the RP-30xxxxSF_DF and RP-30-xxxxSFW_DFW now offers a package size of 2"x 1". With substantially reducing the common Industry-Standard Size and by increasing the efficiency up to 91%, RECOM is now able to provide a product ideally suited for space critical applications.

High efficiency grades up to 91% are a must for these galvanically isolated DC/DC-converters, and guarantee trouble free operation at ambient temperatures exceeding 60°C, without external cooling measures (packing density reaches 2.28W/cm3). Fast and easy to clip Heat-sinks (also available pre-mounted on module) with the corresponding fixtures can be supplied by RECOM to further increase the operating temperature range, should this be required. Simple external filtering (also available from RECOM) ensures class B of EMV-standard EN-55022. The outputs are trimmable in the range ±10% of nominal output voltage and a remote ON/OFF function enables external ON/OFF switching. For further details please consult RECOM's data sheets and application notes.

The new RP30-Series are available with 2:1 inputs 9-18V, 18-36V and 36-75V as well as 4:1 input ranges 9-36V and 18-75V. Output voltages are set at 3,3V, 5V, 12V and 15V. Both series also offer dual outputs with ±5V, ±12V and ±15V. The output rating is 30W, the isolation voltage 1600VDC. The casing consists of 6-sided nickel coated copper material. Homogenous epoxy-potting qualifies these converters for the most stringent temperature and vibration conditions.
