New Vishay Sfernice P10L Miniature Panel Potentiometer Features Long Life of 500,000 Cycles and Ultra-Small 9.6-mm Size

(Product News, 23 Jul 2008 )

Vishay Intertechnology announced a new low-cost, long-life panel potentiometer with a low temperature coefficient down to ア150ppm/ーC and small 9.6-mm size.
While standard low-cost panel potentiometers reach 50,000 cycles, the P10L offers a long life of 500,000 cycles. For designers, this reduces the need for replacement parts, increasing reliability and lowering maintenance costs.

Featuring a fully sealed IP67 package with pure Sn terminals, the potentiometer is intended for control panel, low-cost actuation proportional pedal, and illumination applications in toys, hospital bed audio systems, air conditioning controls, portable heater controls, simple tool machines, and dimmers.

With its 9.6-mm size, the new device offers designers a compact alternative to other low-cost panel potentiometers. Its cermet element provides better stability than carbon elements, while its 1,000-VRMS dielectric strength offers greater reliability and robustness. The P10L features a plastic shaft and bushing, with custom shafts available in accordance to drawings supplied by customers.
The new Vishay Sfernice device offers a maximum operating torque of 2.83oz. per inch, and an end stop torque of 9.9oz. per inch. The potentiometer features four resistance values from 1kΩ to 50kΩ, with a low 1% typical contact resistance variation. An operating temperature range of -40ーC to +100ーC ensures reliable operation even in extreme environments.
