AVX's Secure Lock ZIF Connector

(Product News, 19 Aug 2008 )

AVX Corporation has developed a series of secure lock zero insertion force (ZIF) connectors that provide enhanced robustness and dependability for applications that require high reliability. Designated the 6288 Series, the rugged connector series features a shaped cable construction that guarantees correct alignment and eliminates failures due to misalignment.

The 6288 Series connector's one-touch flip lock provides audible and tactile "click" feedback that facilitates ease-of-assembly, virtually eliminates production process failures, and prevents accidental removal of the cable in the field.

The moldings in the connector accept FFC/FPC cable and lock shapes to prevent accidental removal of the cable and incorrect insertions.

The connectors are ideal for automotive applications, including audio/visual devices, DVD and satellite navigation screens, digital speedometers, tachometers, and rear view mirror displays. The connectors can also be found in medical electronic applications such as handheld blood sugar monitors and LCD screens.

The 6288 Series connectors are available in 6 to 60 positions with a standard 0.5mm pitch and an operating temperature range between -40°C to +105°C. The standard 0.5mm pitch contacts feature a gold flash finish for higher reliability soldering. Technical drawings of the FFC/FPC shape are also available upon request.
