Tiny Audio Subsystem Provides High Output Power from Lithium-ion Battery
(Product News, 22 Aug 2008 )
The MAX9877 is said to be the industry's smallest audio subsystem. It combines a high-efficiency, high-power, mono Class D speaker amplifier; a DirectDrive, stereo headphone amplifier; and a low-noise, bypass analog switch. In addition to this integration, it employs Maxim's third-generation, ultra-low-EMI, Class D amplifier technology to provide Class AB audio performance with Class D efficiency. It thus delivers 725mW of output power from a 3.7V supply into an 8ohm load with 85% (max) efficiency.
