XID Technologies Appoints Pasquale Pistorio to Board of Directors

(Business News, 03 Sep 2008 )

XID Technologies, a Redwood City, Calif. and Singapore-based facial recognition company, has appointed microelectronics industry veteran Pasquale Pistorio, Honorary Chairman of STMicroelectronics, to its board of directors. A true visionary with over 40 years of executive experience, Pistorio brings a wealth of business knowledge and an impressive background to the already diverse group of industry experts on XID's board of directors.

Pistorio began his illustrious career as a salesman for Motorola products and rose through the ranks to become Vice President of Motorola Corporation, demonstrating a business acumen that would be honed even further with his promotion to General Manager of Motorola's International Semiconductor Division. As General Manager, Pistorio was responsible for design, manufacturing and marketing activities for all regions outside of the United States. In 1980, Pistorio was made President and CEO of the SGS Group, the only Italian microelectronics company, which he built into a profitable broadline semiconductor manufacturer. Pistorio's success at the SGS Group led to the successful integration of SGS with French semiconductor powerhouse Thomson Semiconducteurs, forming a powerful new entity, SGS-THOMSON Microelectronics (renamed STMicroelectronics in 1998).

Pistorio, as STMicroelectronics' President and CEO, has positioned the company at the highest level in the worldwide ranking of semiconductor companies. Retiring from his position in 2005, Pistorio now serves as Honorary Chairman for STMicroelectonics. Pistorio holds a degree in electronics from the Polytechnic of Turin, Italy.

Pistorio has made his mark as a champion of Europe's microelectronics industry over the years, and has garnered much praise along the way, including receiving the "Lifetime Achievement Award" from Reed Electronics Group in 2003; being named to the number one spot in the "Top 25 Movers and Shakers" ranking by Time magazine in 2002; and being voted among the top 50 "Stars of Europe" by Business Week magazine.

In order to best capitalize on the burgeoning facial recognition market, XID Technologies has further bolstered its executive management team with the addition of Jorge Silva as vice president of sales and Alex Carrausse as vice president of product and customer support.

As XID's newly appointed Vice President of Sales, Jorge Silva brings more than 25 years of high tech industry experience in sales, marketing and corporate development to XID. While holding positions including International Sales Manager for Ricoh's Office Automation Division, Director of European Sales for Euro-Technology, and Senior Vice President of Business Development at Amkor Technology, Silva refined his skills and acquired the deep sales knowledge that he now brings to XID. A serial entrepreneur, Silva has concepted and launched businesses geared towards helping emerging companies conduct business in Asia, as well as owned and managed an Internet marketing solutions franchise.
Alex Carrausse, as XID's vice president of product and customer support, will rely upon his experience in the security and biometrics industry as he heads up developing and managing the company's customer and product support global infrastructure. Prior to joining XID, Carrausse worked in product development and system integration for Sagem Defense et Securite. Carrausse has also managed project delivery and customer support operations in Korea, Nigeria, France and the UK.
