Video-and everything else-may be going digital, but the analog video signal still has a major role to play. ICs in Maxim's MAX7450 family provide front-end signal conditioning by restoring the dc level of the ac-coupled signal, compensating for variations in standard signal levels by up to ±6dB, and attenuating out-of-band noise. Designed for crosspoint matrices or video decoders, the functions of these ICs correct for inconsistencies and channel matching problems which can affect overall video signal quality and system performance. Each IC incorporates an input signal clamp, automatic gain control (AGC), loss-of-sync detector, and buffering. You can adjust the output buffer gain via an external pin, and disable the AGC if desired. The three ICs in the family differ in specific supply voltage levels and some other smaller operating aspects. They are all housed in a tiny 8-pin SO package and priced at $1.49 (1000 pieces).
