Suprema Live-scanner Receives FBI Certification

(Business News, 26 Sep 2008 )

Suprema has announced that its latest RealScan-P live-scanner has received official certification from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and has met the agency's Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS) Image Quality Specification (IQS) Appendix F standards. FBI IQS standards for live-scanning systems are mandatory for the purpose of FBI and most US government agencies' procurements.

Suprema's RealScan-P is an industry's best performing live-scanner using the company's leading optical image processing technology. RealScan-P is a high-speed live-scanner for slap fingerprints, rolled fingerprints and palm-prints, and transfers image data to PC via USB2.0 connection.

James Lee, CEO of Suprema, said "Along with last month's ARINC certification for our e-passport readers, FBI certification for the RealScan live-scanner set a stepping stone to the government sectors of the US and other countries. Based on those certifications and our previous success in regional AFIS projects, we are pursuing aggressive approaches towards expanding our sales scope to international government projects."

Suprema is the first Asian company (and 7th worldwide) to comply with the FBI IQS Appendix F for both finger and palm-print live-scanning technologies.
