Fairchild Semiconductor provides designers a voltage translation solution that minimizes the delay in the timing budget of signal path applications such as notebooks, cell phones, GPSs and displays. The FXLA102 is a two-bit, low voltage dual supply auto direction translator that features a propagation delay of 5ns and data rate of 80Mbps – twice as fast as alternate solutions. This translator has built-in automatic direction control, allowing the device to sense and control the direction the data should flow, without a direction control pin. This automatic direction control feature reduces design complexity by eliminating the need to program the General Purpose IO (GPIO) for direction control, and reduces the number of pins required for controlling the translator from 10 pins to 8 pins. This pin reduction coupled with its compact (1.6mm x 1.6mm) MicroPak™ packaging makes this translator ideal for space-constrained applications.
This auto direction detection translator is part of Fairchild’s broad portfolio of logic translators. This translator portfolio includes the industry’s first 4-bit, low voltage, dual supply voltage translator with independent-direction controls, the industry’s only single-bit, bi-directional voltage translator with guaranteed performance down to 1.1V and the industry’s first dual-supply, bi-directional translator with independent-direction controls.
The FXLA102 utilizes lead-free (Pb-free) terminals and has been characterized for moisture sensitivity in accordance with the Pb-free reflow requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020. All of Fairchild's products are designed to meet the requirements of the European Union's Directive on the restriction of the use of certain substances (RoHS).
