LMI Technologies Appoints New CEO

(Business News, 30 Sep 2009 )

LMI Technologies Inc. (LMI) has appointed Terry Arden as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He replaces Len Metcalfe, a founder of LMI Technologies and former CEO. Metcalfe continues to serve as Chairman of the Board and remains the largest shareholder staying actively involved in the industry and success of LMI. LMI Technologies works through dealers in selected areas of Asia and Australia such as India, China, Korea, Japan, Thailand, and others.

Since joining LMI seven years ago, Arden has served as Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of the company. Previously, Arden built a machine vision software company that he sold to LMI before joining the company as CTO. At LMI, Arden successfully built an incredible R&D development team that created many of the company’s successful products. During this time, Arden has also been a key contributor to LMI’s management team.

“I am excited about what Terry will bring in our next growth stage,” said Metcalfe. “Terry’s broad experience in sensors combined with his proven leadership skills are key to our success in this challenging economy.” According to Metcalfe, Arden’s strong background in technology and business development will continue to contribute to LMI’s success as a 3D sensor solution company. His process-driven yet agile management style will set the foundation for expanded growth of 3D sensor solutions into various new markets, Metcalfe said.

“LMI has exciting growth potential in many markets where 3D shape and/or 2D color are determining factors in product quality,” Arden said. “Engineering machine vision problems into simple, fully integrated ‘sensors that see’ solutions is a key LMI capability.”
