ICE-Technology enables >90% efficiency for compact DC/DC converters

RECOM Electronic Ltd’s PowerlinePLUS family of compact DC/DC converters utilizes the company’s new ICE-Technology, a combination of design techniques that increases the efficiency to values over 90 percent as well as to significantly improving the heat management within the converter. Compared to conventional converters, the internal heat dissipation is reduced by about 15 percent to 20 percent.

The PowerlinePLUS converters are available with power ratings ranging from 20W to 50W. The devices feature a built-in heat-sink casing manufactured from aircraft-grade aluminum, with double rows of fins, which aid the heat transfer to the surroundings. A built-in Class B Filter is standard and the outputs are fully protected against short circuits and overload.

The converters are available in two compact sizes: 40.6x25.4x11.7mm and 50.8x30.5x11.7mm. They are suitable for high-end applications in aerospace, defense, transport and industry electronics, where minimal self heating and very wide operating temperature range are in demand.
