Texas Instruments Inc.’s UCD7242 digital power dual synchronous-buck driver with integrated power MOSFETs, protection blocks and monitoring features provides designers the flexibility of two independent 10A rails or one 20A rail in a small package. Available in a 6x6mm QFN-32, the UCD7242 helps save board space and reduce component count by as much as 80 percent compared to industry standards. Also, featuring an on-die current sensing element, the device eliminates the need for calibration or temperature compensation.
The UCD7242’s input voltage ranges from 2.2V to 18V and its switching frequency can go as high as 2MHz. The device is rated from -40°C to 125°C, is RoHS compliant, and features UVLO and OVLO circuits to ensure proper drive voltage. The buck driver is suitable for use in digitally-controlled synchronous-buck power stages and high-current dual-phase VRM/EVRD regulators for desktop, server, telecom and notebook processors.
