Converter-free 100lm/W AC LED light

Seoul Semiconductor’s Acriche is the world’s first converter-free AC LED light. It can be powered by high-voltage AC power by integrating small light-emitting cells onto an LED die. Compared to regular DC-powered LEDs, Acriche features low power loss, reduced circuit cost, and a prolonged lifespan of over 35,000 hours.

In addition, the AC-powered Acriche makes it possible to turn on twice at one cycle (1Hz) with operating characteristics as efficient as that with the full AC cycle. Under 60Hz AC power, it is operated at 120Hz. Therefore, a flicker phenomenon which is observed at 80Hz or below can be generally avoided. Seoul Semiconductor owns original technology on AC-powered chips and holds hundreds of patents such as patent on packaging technology for improvement of efficiency and stability. In addition, the company has earned diverse certifications such as UL, CE and TÜV to eliminate all possible concerns about electrical safety.

Seoul Semiconductor has improved Acriche’s optical efficiency, with the product’s performance almost equivalent to conventional AC/DC converter-used products. Acriche boasts a rating of 100lm/W—an improvement of 25 percent compared to the average efficiency of competitive products out on the market. This is about 10 times brighter than incandescent lamp. Seoul Semiconductor has started mass production of 100lm/W Acriche LEDs in the first quarter. The company is now aggressively expanding its latest products into diverse optical application markets as well as regular lighting markets.

Seoul Semiconductor is the fourth largest LED company in the world, according to an IMS research report. It currently holds more than 5,000 patents. Apart from its Acriche LEDs, Seoul Semiconductor has also released Deep UV LEDs and Non-Polar LEDs.
