SAMSUNG Electro-Mechanics is the first company to acquire ‘carbon labeling system’ certification in MLCC (multilayer ceramic capacitor) industry. The carbon labeling system is targeted to promote the purchase and development of environment-friendly products by disclosing total CO2 emissions during the manufacturing process in carbon footprint labels. The reduction of CO2 emissions, which is the major cause of global warming, is one of the most important tasks now in the field of electronics, and has drawn great attention in the industry.
SAMSUNG Electro-Mechanics calculated the carbon dioxide emissions in all manufacturing processes of its MLCC products for seven months. In addition, the company has estimated carbon emissions against 14 suppliers and environmental loads that are produced in the entire manufacturing processes using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tool.
“SAMSUNG Electro-Mechanics has become the world’s first firm to use carbon emission stickers in the MLCC industry. We will continue to give our best efforts to protect the environment and spread a ‘green’ culture,” said Yoo Jin-yeong, Managing Director and LCR Manufacturing Team Manager, SAMSUNG Electro-Mechanics. The company will continue promoting carbon reduction activities to acquire low-carbon certification and establish a basic carbon information system with its partners. Furthermore, it targets to acquire additional carbon reduction certification for products that are currently produced.
