First-ever PCB design tool comes in traditional and simplified Chinese

It is not common that design tools for ICs and PCBs come with a local language, which is one of the major market strategies for commercial software to penetrate its target market. But, to upgrade the design ability of engineers in Greater China, Cadence and Graser Technology, a value-added Cadence Channel Partner in Taiwan, had jointly unveiled a Chinese version of Cadence OrCAD V16.3, which includes traditional Chinese and simplified Chinese languages for Taiwan and China.

“There are very close relationships between Taiwan and China in the PCB industry,” said Wendy Tang, Vice President at Graser Technology. “It is to demand immediate attention to foster high-level PCB design engineers because of the constant releases for next generation 3C products, ranging from smart phones, to notebook computers, and to varied LED applications.” She pointed out that the Chinese version of the OrCAD V16.3 will facilitate the design ability of PCB engineers in Greater China by breaking free the language barrier.

Founded in 1996, Graser Technology provides technical support for system-level CAE/CAD/CAM tools, as well as professional solutions and services including PCB (Cadence OrCAD/Allegro), package (Cadence Allegro Package Designer/SiP) and IC design (Cadence Virtuoso/Incisive) in Taiwan. “Taiwan is famous for its mass production of electronics products,” said Eric Chen, Senior Manager at Graser Technology. “How to reduce the costs as well as sizes of products are important issues now in the industry. Therefore, Taiwan engineers are now more than ever relying on sophisticated EDA tools.” He added that to fulfill customer requests, the engineers have to develop add-on EDA utilities to easily improve and integrate the customer design environment, and to eliminate the gap between various EDA tools which customers use in their daily design works.
