Sino-micro increases focus on high-efficiency LED drivers

Founded March 2008, Sino-micro Electronics Technology Co. Ltd (Sino-micro) focuses on high-power, high-reliability, and high-efficiency driver IC, currently manufactured in 0.35µm process technology. The company provides solutions for LED display panels, mobile phones, notebook PCs, portable media players, GPS and portable navigation devices, PDAs, DSCs, TFT LCDs, and LED lighting applications. Previously, Sino-micro manufactures DC/DC products; however, according to James Lu, General Manager, the company exited the segment due to the stiff competition in the market.

Two of the latest products from the Sino-micro are the SMT5026 (fully compatible with MBI5026) and MOSFET SMT4953 driver ICs. SMT5026 is designed for LED displays and features a built-in CMOS shift register and latch functions. The SMT5026, which utilizes BiCMOS technology, provides 16 output current sources and has a 5mA to 90mA current range. Output current value can be adjusted by external resistors.

The SMT4953, meanwhile, uses advanced trench technology to provide excellent RDS(ON) and low gate charge. The device is optimized for power management applications requiring a wide range of gave drive voltage ratings of 4.5V to 25V.

James Lu, General Manager, said that the company has already established a complete chain of industrial partners—from silicon production to packaging and testing—in both international and domestic markets.
