Prices of solid-state devices continue to be high, with unit prices (or price per GB) is still about three times those of HDDs. Still, Taiwan-based CoreSolid Storage Corp., a joint venture between Power Quotient International Co. Ltd (PQI) and TDK Corp. (TDK), has released its latest T10 series of 2.5in SATA SSD, a high performance industrial solid storage solution targeted at embedded markets. “The most important issue for storage devices is reliability,” said Alan Yao, Manager of Advance Product Department, CoreSolid Storage. “Most SSDs use NAND flash, which has program/erase endurance problem, especially MLC flash chips. We don’t only focus on performance, but also reliability. Our SSD will do the burn-in test before shipping.” Yao said that quality and reliability are the first things his company focuses on. “The T10 series has very good performance; it is also a good solution for designer to improve their system performance,” added Yao. The T10 SATA SSD features advanced data compression schemes to optimize SSD lifetime, maximum read rate of up to 260MBps, and write speed up to 260MBps. It employs advanced 24-symbol ECC technology and AES 128-bit technology to ensure its high data reliability and durability. In addition, the T10 SATA SSD only weighs 60g and uses 16 pieces of flash memory chips to meet portable computer customer needs. The product is targeted at STBs, network devices, gaming consoles, notebook PCs, UMPCs and tablet PCs.
