Technical Consumer Goods Sales Up 13% in Asia

(Business News, 23 Aug 2010 )

The second quarter of 2010 generally saw improved sales performances in Technical Consumer Goods across the eight Asian markets tracked by leading market research company GfK Asia, with growth margin reaching as high as 30 percent when compared with the same period a year ago.

GfK’s quarter two Temax findings reported Vietnam, Malaysia and Hong Kong as the three top performing countries when it comes to demand for technical consumer goods, achieving 30, 22, and 17 percent growth respectively, while Small Domestic Appliances clearly emerged as the highest growth category across the region.

“Vietnamese market continued going strong into the second quarter of 2010, registering a strong growth of 30 percent compared to the same quarter in 2009. Apart from Information Technology and Office Equipment categories, all categories enjoyed double-digit growths, with the Small Domestic Appliance category seeing the highest growth of 61 percent from the same quarter last year,” commented Stanley Kee, Regional Commercial Director, GfK Asia Pte Ltd.
