Energy Micro Expands Asia Market

(Business News, 27 Aug 2010 )

Energy Micro, the energy friendly microcontroller (MCU) company, has appointed Apps-Connect as a distributor for its growing family of ARM Cortex-M3 based low power EFM32 Gecko microcontrollers in the ASEAN region and India.

Headquartered in Singapore, Apps-Connect also has offices in Thailand and another in India, now a key trading partner of the ASEAN region. The company has a strong niche market focus and provides a value-added service connecting customers to innovative solutions capable of delivering significant product differentiation.

“Our in-depth experience and coverage of the South Asia Pacific region will ensure customers in the region will be able to fully realise the benefits of the Energy Micro product range in the most energy sensitive of applications, where longest possible battery life is critical to the overall solution,” says T.L. Chua, Co-Founder of Apps-Connect. “As the inventor of the world’s most energy friendly MCU, Energy Micro is helping Apps-Connect to further differentiate itself in the market and importantly, it is helping our customers in their global efforts to ‘go green’, by significantly reducing power requirements. We are certain that Energy Micro will become a formidable supplier in the MCU arena.”

Bryan Hung, Energy Micro’s VP Sales APAC, comments, “Apps-Connect’s real appetite for innovation and new technology is a great fit with Energy Micro’s product range and this coupled with its strong customer relationships in the region means we look forward to a prosperous and sustained relationship. Reducing design cycles and time-to-market has never been more important and we are confident in Apps-Connect’s ability to take the customer from product concept to finished product in the shortest possible time.”

In benchmark testing, Energy Micro’s EFM32 Gecko microcontroller family has been proven to consume a quarter of the energy required by other 8-, 16- and 32-bit microcontrollers. The ultra low power EFM32 Gecko microcontroller family was launched in October 2009 and is now in full production. Energy Micro has since announced details of its software and pin-compatible Tiny Gecko and Giant Gecko products, offering a comprehensive choice offering a comprehensive choice of package and memory size options.
