Altera Corp.'s Arria II GX FPGAs were honored by EDN China with it prestigious “Innovation Award” in the Programmable Logic category. The award is one of the most widely respected industry awards voted by China’s electronics design experts, universities and institutes, as well as EDN China editors. The annual Innovation Awards are presented to innovative and outstanding companies from across the semiconductor industry that have made a significant impact in the systems design community.
Arria II GX FPGAs feature up to 16 6.375Gbps transceivers, LVDS at 1.25Gbps, and support for 400MHz DDR3, and offer 50 percent lower static power than competitive offerings. These features and benefits make Arria II GX FPGAs ideal for a broad array of applications in markets such as wireless, wireline, test, medical and storage.
“Altera is very honored to be recognized for the third consecutive year as a leader in innovative FPGA product design and technology,” said Vince Hu, Vice President of Product and Corporate Marketing, Altera. “This award is a testament to Altera’s continued success delivering the industry’s most innovative and technology-leading FPGAs.”
Arria II GX FPGAs are single-chip, 40nm devices that meet the high-speed bandwidth requirements for remote radio units (RRUs), mobile backhaul and pico-cell basestations in the wireless market, IP-DSLAM line cards and GPON multidwelling units (MDUs) in the wireline market, as well as broadcast professional 1080p audio/video switching applications and a broad number of applications in other markets.
“With 6G integrated programmable transceivers, the Arria II GX FPGA offers best-in-class signal integrity and provides the flexibility to accelerate product development, while consuming less power than competing solutions,” said Jeff Lu, Chief Editor, EDN China. “This cutting-edge device is architected for low cost and low power, and comes with tools to help address design challenges involving high-speed serial transceivers. Altera’s product innovation is deserving of recognition.”
