Sensirion's Moritz Lechner and Felix Mayer, founders and managing directors of Sensirion, won Ernst & Young's "Entrepreneur of the Year Award" for 2010, under the category "High-Tech/Lifescience".
Among the reasons for the decision, the jury named the extraordinary innovation potential in combination with a high customer and service orientation. In this way, they honour "a high technical excellence, which is driven by customer and market needs".
Furthermore, they justified their choice with the success story of the enterprise. Sensirion has developed from an ETH spin-off into an established and technologically leading enterprise with more than 200 employees within 12 years. In particular, the independent evaluation committee emphasized the achieved growth of more than 30 percent, even amid the 2009 global economic recession. Their distinct corporate culture also contributed to winning the business award. Sensirion is "solid, consequent, innovative, cosmopolitan and still modest", worthy of such award and citation.
"Winning the 'Entrepreneur of the Year 2010' is for us, both confirmation and motivation to serve our customers time and again with innovative and requirement-oriented sensor solutions," comments Lechner. "We’ll stay on the ball!"
