Altera Corp. will be demonstrating its optical transport network (OTN), Ethernet and Interlaken IP solutions at the upcoming Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition (OFC) and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (NFOEC) in Los Angeles, California.
Representatives of Altera's Newfoundland Technology Center (formerly Avalon Microelectronics) will be in Altera's booth to discuss how the company's OTN technology solutions enable communications applications with data rates of 100Gbps, as well as support for lower rates including ODU0 and ODUflex.
Show attendees will see demonstrations of Altera's integrated portfolio of customizable OTN IP solutions for use in its FPGA and ASIC products. The portfolio offers solutions that demonstrate Altera's leadership in high-performance, flexible silicon platforms for the communications market. These integrated OTN solutions efficiently solve the implementation complexity issues associated with 100Gbps data rates, and dramatically accelerate communications customers' time to market with next-generation optical networks.
Altera's in-booth demonstrations showcasing its integrated FPGA and IP technologies include: • 100Gbps Enhanced Forward Error Correction (EFEC) demonstration. EFEC/FPGA technology solution specifically designed for 100Gbps metro and long-haul OTN. • 100Gbps Ethernet media access control (MAC) and physical coding sublayer (PCS) to Interlaken demonstration. Utilizing Altera's Stratix® IV GT FPGAs with integrated 10Gbps transceivers, this demonstration will showcase a single chip bridge design for 100Gbps applications, and illustrate the benefits of FPGAs for Ethernet bridging and aggregation applications.
