RECOM Power Inc.'s recently released REC8, REC10 and REC15 DC/DC converters are now certified to UL-60950-1 safety standards, complementing the EN60950-1 certification that they already possessed.
The REC8 and REC10 are low-cost, high performance, regulated DIP24 converters available with 2:1 and 4:1 input voltage ranges and with single or dual outputs. The isolation grade is 2kVDC as standard, with 3kVDC offered as an option. The careful thermal design permits the 10W converter to have the full industrial ambient operating temperature range (free convection) of -40°C to 85°C without derating, while the 12W converter achieves a still respectable maximum operating temperature of 75°C. The converters have efficiencies of up to 87 percent, which remain consistent over the full input voltage range. In addition, the efficiency remains high with variable loads so that even with a 30 percent load, the conversion efficiency is still above 80 percent. The high reliability design offers an MTBF of up to 1.2 million hours.
The REC15 is a low cost, high performance, regulated 2x1in converter also available with 2:1 or 4:1 input voltage range and single or dual outputs. The isolation grade is 2kVDC as standard, with 3kVDC offered as an option. Due to its high efficiency, the 2:1 input 15W converter has an ambient operating temperature range (free convection) of -40°C to 71°C without derating. The converter features synchronous rectification for the higher current outputs and the standard output voltages have been slightly increased to 3.4V and 5.1V respectively to compensate for any voltage drops in the user’s application.
All of the REC8 to REC15 converters feature power limiting on the outputs, so hiccupping does not occur if an overload condition exists. The converters also feature very tight output voltage regulation, low output ripple/noise and have a remote enable pin fitted as standard, a useful feature for sequential power-up and shut-down.
