Integrating a bypass switch and a DCS-Control technology, Texas Instruments Inc.’s TPS62730 3MHz, 100mA synchronous step-down DC/DC converter extends battery run-time by 20 percent in low-power wireless and MSP430 MCU-based applications, and boasts operating current of only 25µA. The device also achieves 95 percent conversion efficiency and reduces current consumption drawn from the battery in transmit and receive modes. In addition, the TPS62730’s bypass switch only consumes 30nA of current for sleep and low power modes.

The converter generates less than 15mVpp typical output voltage ripple, providing low noise to low-power RF applications such as Bluetooth low-energy systems, metering and building technologies, mobile phones, and medical and human interface devices.
Rated at 1.9V to 3.9V input voltage, the TPS62730 is available in compact, 6-pin, 1x1.5x0.6mm SON package, with footprint of only 12mm².
