Murata Expands DOSA-compliant DC/DC Converter Family

(Product News, 27 Jul 2011 )

Murata Power Solutions' OKI-T/3-W32 series of surface mount point of load (PoL) DC/DC converters is designed specifically to suit +12VDC or +24VDC industrial applications but can accommodate a very wide input voltage range from +9VDC to +32 VDC—giving designers the flexibility of using one part to cater for both nominal input voltages. The devices are ideal for use in higher voltage applications that require a lower voltage source to power FPGAs and microprocessors. Also, the modules have a typical efficiency of 89 percent, are fully compatible with the Distributed-power Open Standards Alliance (DOSA) package specifications, and measure just 11.9x20.8x8.5mm.

The non-isolated series offers a 3A programmable output voltage that can be set from +0.75VDC to +4.5VDC to suit the needs of an individual industrial design. Power output at 4.5V is 13.5W. A remote On/Off input, using either a positive or negative source, allows the output to be controlled or sequenced in the case of an end-product using multiple input voltage sources. The modules also provide several protection features including under voltage lock out, output short circuit, over current and over temperature.

The series is capable of driving up to 1mF ceramic capacitive loads, aiding keeping ripple and noise to a minimum. Operating temperature is from -40°C to 8540°C.
