Sensor guarantees increased specificity in determining volatile organic compounds

(Product News, 08 Feb 2012 )

Baseline-MOCON, Inc. has announced a new 10.0 eV lamp energy level for its piD TECHR plus photoionization sensor line. The new lamp offers increased specificity when determining the presence of volatile organic compounds (VOC) such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene (BTEX). The new lamp provides improved BTEX compound analysis over previously available energies. It offers increased specificity over the 10.6eV and sensitivity over the 9.6 eV options.

Energy level is incorporated into a small photoionization sensor, and can accept 4P cell dimensional profile. Baseline-MOCON has engineered extremely low electrical entity parameters (voltage, current, capacitance, etc.) into the piD-TECHR plus series which can operate in hazardous environments.

The new generation sensors are ideal for instrumentation manufacturers who want to add low-level VOC detection to their portable or stationary monitors. The piD-TECHR plus line also sets a new standard by measuring concentrations lower than previously possible.

Additional features include a compact design which makes it easier to integrate into multi-use, portable instruments. The piD-TECHR plus also has a cap locking feature to align gas entry ports. Ideal applications are gas analyzers, which target industrial hygiene and safety monitoring; soil contamination and remediation; HAZMAT sites and spills; low-concentration leak detection; EPA Method 21 and emissions monitoring and arson investigations.

The product line also includes a variety of complimentary products such as multipoint samplers, calibration systems, sample conditioners, support gas generators, and data acquisition systems.
