Supply inductor also functions as a current-sense resistor

By guaranteeing a tight tolerance on the dc resistance of the newest members of the IHLP family of power inductors, Vishay lets you use the inductor as a current-sense resistor as well, thus eliminating the need for a separate resistor. The lead-free inductors promise 5 or 10% resistance tolerance, depending on variation ordered, and operate to 5MHz. Designed for voltage-regulator module (VRM) and dc/dc converter applications, the small inductors (6.4736.8633mm high) have saturation currents from 7 to 60A and dc resistance from 1.4 to 97.7m½, depending on specific model, with inductance between 0.10 and 10µH. Packaged in composite material to reduce annoying "buzz noise" to very low levels.
