Agilent Technologies'gate drive optocoupler for IGBTs and power MOSFETs
( 01 Nov 2003 )
Agilent Technologies has introduced a high-speed MOSFET/IGBT gate drive optocoupler for plasma display panels, distributed power architecture and high performance switch mode power supplies.
The new Agilent HCPL-3180 can be used in the drive circuitry of plasma display panels, and in high-performance switch mode power supplies (SMPS), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), motor control and distributed power architecture applications.
In recent years, digital signal processor and microcontroller usage in motor control, UPS and high performance SMPS applications have experienced strong growth, requiring a new class of gate drive to meet the additional complexity and performance requirements placed upon the associated electronic components.
The Agilent HCPL-3180 combines maximum switching speed of 250kHz with 2Amp output current, which is ideal for high-performance applications that require high-output current and fast switching speed. Other key features include a short propagation delay of 200ns maximum, high common mode rejection of 10kV/ms, and guaranteed performance over the -40¡ to +100¡C operating temperature range. The new gate drive optocoupler operates over a supply voltage from 10 to 20V.
