Linear Technology has introduced a 24-bit SD ADC that offers two fully differential input channels with automatic channel selection and a differential reference input. The LTC2412 accepts two differential inputs with a full-scale input span of -0.5V-reference to +0.5V-reference where the reference can range from 0.1V to VCC while offering low noise of 800n VRMS that provides 22.5 effective bits over a ±2.5V span and 16.9 ENOBs over a ±50 mV span.
The ADC also features an integrated on-chip oscillator that further provides selectable 50- and 60-Hz notch filters with rejection better than 110 dB. The wide input range handles sensor offsets and tare voltages without the need for front-end conditioning.
Good signal integrity is ensured with auto calibration on every conversion, which in turn ensures stable output codes with total unadjusted error of 3 ppm independent of time, temperature and supply.
The LTC2412 operates from a single 2.7- to 5.5-V supply with 200-µA supply current, and consumes 4 µA in auto-sleep mode. With a 3-wire digital interface that supports the SPI protocol, the device targets applications in instrumentation, process control and data acquisition. The LTC2412 is available in a 16-pin SSOP package, with prices starting at US$4.75 each in quantities of (1,000).
