Low-noise 200kHz to 10MHz dual filter provides matched response

( 01 Jul 2003 )

Linear Technology has introduced the LT1568-what it claims as an 'ultra' low-noise (92dB SNR), high-frequency filter building block for channel antialiasing or reconstruction applications.

The LT1568 provides a pair of matched second order filter sections integrated on a single chip. The matched filter response, gain and phase repeatability from channel
to channel is critical for I/Q applications. Passive and active circuitries are precisely trimmed for predictable and repeatable performance, otherwise difficult to obtain with conventional discrete solutions.

The device features differential outputs, making it suitable for single-ended to differential conversion and driving high-speed A/D converters. It can be used as a dual matched 2nd or 3rd order lowpass filter. Achieving 4th order or higher response is as simple as cascading the two internal 2nd order sections. Various lowpass or bandpass responses such as Butterworth, Chebyshev, Bessel or Elliptic can be easily implemented.

The LT1568 operates from a single 3 to ±5V supply and has a power shutdown pin. Offered in 16-pin narrow body SSOP package that occupies the footprint of an SO-8, it is available for operation over commercial and industrial temperature ranges. The LT1568 is priced at US$4.25 (1000).
