Micrel has introduced a family of six p-channel “smart” load switches and MOSFETs which give you high-side control with between just 70 and 100 mW of on-resistance. These devices, designed for space and power-constrained devices such as cell phones and PDAs, support up to 2A of continuous current control on their output. Internal level-shift circuitry lets you use a logic signal as low as 1.5V to drive the MOSFET, which you can tie to a different power rail such as a 3.6-V Li-ion battery. Further, an internal slew-rate control minimizes difficulties posed by in-rush currents causing noise glitches in the supply line.
The Micrel family of smart high-side load switches gives you low on-resistance, up to 2A of current handling, controlled turn-on time, and built-in level shifting.
The six-member family, designated the MIC94060/1 and MIC94050/1/2/3, consists of SC70-housed simple p-channel MOSFETs, as well as SOT143 four-terminal p-channel MOSFETs with the substrate brought out to a package pin so you can access the parasitic diode that is inherent in the MOSFET (for reverse-blocking applications). You can choose among family members for the combination of specifications you need. All units are priced at
