Validation of embedded systems with Industry’s best measurement tools

The latest embedded systems technologies present us with new test and measurement challenges. Agilent Mixed Signal Oscilloscopes(MSOs) and Logic Analyzers can speed up your development by addressing validation and measurement challenges of your embedded designs in areas like memory system validation, power supply evaluation, serial bus decode and efficient debugging of FPGA systems.

Agilent MSOs are one box economical solutions for addressing all these needs. MSOs help you to characterize the physical layers of complex memories like DDR with advanced triggering and automated compliance testing. With hardware serial bus decoding, MSOs provide protocol decode and physical layer measurements simultaneously for serial buses like USB, PCI Express, SATA, I2C, SPI, CAN etc. MSOs now equipped with state analysis and listing displays are also ideal tools for debugging Mixed signal systems up to 20 channels. FPGA based systems can be debugged with FPGA Dynamic Probing capabilities with access to large number internal nodes of the FPGAs through limited debug pins.

For higher channel count digital systems and for protocol level debug of memories and microprocessors Logic Analyzers are the ideal debug systems. With Agilent tools you can shorten your design cycle, gain greater technical insight and improve team productivity to bring new products and services to market much faster.

Enhancing Connectivity in Embedded-Control Applications With PIC32 Microcontrollers

In the era of information technology, connectivity plays an important role in many embedded-control applications. End users need to have multiple communication interfaces, because embedded-control systems are growing in complexity. These multiple communication interfaces are expected to work concurrently, along with advanced graphics and other embedded-control software. This demands superior CPU performance and large on-chip memory.

Whether it is wired or wireless connectivity, the 32-bit PIC32 microcontroller’s whole product solution supports a wide variety of communication interfaces, such as Ethernet, CAN, and USB OTG; and communication protocols, including TCP/IP and USB stacks, as well as the ZigBee®, MiWi™ and IrDA protocols.

This presentation will introduce easy and economic ways to enhance connectivity in embedded-control applications. A series of horizontal- and vertical-market design examples will be presented, including those for industrial, consumer and telecom applications. Additionally, this presentation will introduce the PIC32 microcontroller family, roadmap, whole-product-solution support, DSP capabilities and general benchmarks. Attendees will learn about the PIC32‘s features, advantages, ready-to-use software libraries, as well as hardware and software resources that can be used to add distinguishing features and enhance the performance of their designs.

Discover that high functionality does not come at a high price

As the human machine interface is an important aspect in all product designs, recent years have seen major developments in the area of image generation, touch switches and voice interactive methods. Presently, Holtek is not only maintaining the focus of its development efforts in the Microcontroller area, but also expanding its efforts into the area of interfacing peripherals such as LED, LCD and VFD drivers, Voice/Music MCUs, Image Processors and Touch Switch ICs. The content of this presentation will select three subjects to introduce which are: the present highly promoted Holtek flash memory MCUs, high quality voice flash memory MCUs as well as a range of easily implemented touch switch solutions. These excellent product offerings provide customers with excellent quality, a high level of convenience and flexibility, as well as permitting the customers’ products to achieve price superiority in the market place.

Challenges in Migration to Embedded Multicore Systems

As the demand for performance from embedded systems increases, the focus is also shifting on lower power consumption. Frequency scaling no longer being an option, embedded system designers are looking at Multi-core systems to provide the scaling required for tomorrows applications.

Multi-core systems bring with them an inherent challenge of migrating millions of lines of embedded code traditionally written for single core systems. Issues like parallelization, workload distribution, resource-sharing and synchronization are increasingly becoming the focus areas for embedded software development.

This session describes the latest technology drivers and trends in Multi-core system design. It explains the various challenges faced during software migration, and goes on to outline various concepts for parallel software design. Finally, it provides certain system level examples of how certain systems have been successfully migrated to Multi-core platforms.

Developing the Next Generation of Embedded GUIs

Getting the UI functionally ‘right’ is only half the battle: it has to look good too. Studies have shown that good cosmetic UI design can encourage users to explore the full range of features on offer, can engender the perception that a product is easier to use, and can even make users more tolerant of product deficiencies.

So if the benefits of great looking, easy-to-use UIs are so clear, why are so many products still falling short of customers’ expectations? The solution to this problem lies in taking a fresh look at the role that a consumer electronics device UI plays. By identifying common UI functionality and implementing it in a reusable, customizable way, we can make it far easier for embedded engineers to deliver a visually engaging and easy-to-use product. The solution is Mentor’s Inflexion UI engine and drag-and-drop designer tool.

In this presentation you will learn how Inflexion’s technology is designed specifically to enable the rapid creation and customization of visually rich and compelling consumer device experiences.

Android made easy on TI’s Application Processors

Android is one of the exponentially growing communities of software providers. Every single component in the Android software stack like the operating system, middleware and key applications are selected and arranged to give a complete end to end solution in a simple and defined way.

Texas Instruments an open handset alliance member offers best in class application processors to meet the needs & expectations of Android software stack. TI offers range of multi-core application processors with ARM Cortex A8 and A9 technology, high performance DSP and media accelerators, SGX 3D graphics accelerators and on chip integrated peripheral controllers. The unveiling of arowboat.org a open community portal for Android platforms on TI devices gives the necessary infrastructure to develop, deploy and distribute Android based solutions.

The talk covers the need of Android in both mobile/wireless and non-wireless devices, the functionality of Android software stack, TI’s Android based offerings that helps in building differentiated products and meet time to market needs and at last takes you through the open “android” eco-system built around arowboard.org.
