ASOCS Demonstrates Cellular and Wi-Fi Concurrently on a Single Chip - ASCOCS
(Product Announcements, 16/2/2009)
MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS Barcelona – February 16, 2009

ASOCS, the leading developer of wireless MultiComms processors and system solutions for handheld devices today announced a live demonstration of Cellular operating concurrently with Wireless on its MP100 MultiComms processor. The ASOCS MP100 processor, featuring a single ModemX core is the first software configurable MultiComms processor that supports Wi-Fi and the only mobile configurable processor able to run up to three different air interfaces concurrently.

“The innovation that ASOCS brings to the market is the first software-based wireless baseband integrating multiple modems that others offer only in hardware,” says Gilad Garon, CEO, ASOCS. “In our demonstration today, we show that ASOCS’ solution supports GPRS and Wi-Fi (802.11g). The ModemX core also supports LTE, WiMAX, WCDMA, HSPA, TD-SCDMA, Bluetooth, GPS and MobileTV providing users with easy access to the best connection available at any given moment.”

The ASOCS MP100 MultiComms processor introduces a revolutionary approach to wireless communication – a single chip running multiple software-reconfigurable modems concurrently providing high integration, low latency air-interface switching, minimal power consumption, and low cost. Consumer electronics and smart-phone developers can now offer users transparent access to best connection to the Internet.

ASOCS is currently sampling the MP100 processor to select customers.
